History

Indica was born in the year 2004 in Buenos Aires, Argentina when Ruben Farzati and David Vera meets, both with the same aim, to form a unique and personal musical proyect, trying to generate a space unexisting in the musical scenario. The band is named after a counterculture art gallery of the late 60s, located in Masons Yard, London, England.

After having several songs composed, Indica establishes as an official band in the year 2006 when Gastón Del Pópolo joins the already existing formation of Ruben and David bringing to the band the rhythmic part which was missing. By this, Indica defines its strength as a band and its songs took a particular sound. Indica stands out for being a band with a neopsychedelic, sonic-alternative rock and electronic post-rock sound.

By the end of 2006, Indica decides to independently edit its first album called “Liebe” and starts a tour of concerts until the year 2008 when the band calls the people and several musical producers..attention. In a concert in “La Trastienda” organized by Sonica/Speedy for the “selection of bands” for the Pepsi Music 2008, Indica meets the music and producer Daniel Melero, who delighted with this unknown band..s music, decides to record and produce them. Due to the great musical impact Indica generates in the “selection of bands”, it is selected finalist and performs in the megafestival Pepsi Music 2008, obtaining also a discographic contract with “Arroz Discos” and its distribution by Sony Music.

Style

The album “Vírgen de electrones” ends up being recorded in Circo Beat Studios with Daniel Melero as the artistic director and producer, recorded and mixed by Gustavo Iglesias (Babasónicos) who is also part of the production. The album is defined by the conjunction of the acoustic and electronic, creating an eclectic variety of expressions and sonority, subtles for a moment and explosive at the next. The tracklist is completed with songs from “Liebe” and with some other which the band had already been composing for a second independent album. Throughout the 10 songs of the album, Indica invites us to an astral and surreal journey, with dark climates and spatial sounds, as if everything was about an asphyxiating dream. Psychedelic lyrics and songs defines a completely eclectic album. Some of the recurrent topics of the band are: dreams, love, death, spirituality and the universe. The band started a tour of concerts using image-showing which interact with the music, inviting the audience to participate in the psychedelic audio-visual and connect with the emotions generated by its music.
